How
much electricity will a PV system produce?
PV
systems produce the most electricity from spring through
fall when the sun is shining. Energy production will vary,
of course, depending on geography and climate. The following
map (1820 KWh) (http://www.abcsolar.com/pdf/2003-03-11_500-03-014F.pdf
- Page 12) provides very approximate statewide production
estimates for a 2-KW roof top PV system facing due south
at a 20-degree tilt. Naturally these estimates vary depending
on the customer’s electricity load, the geographic
location, whether tracking devices are used, weather conditions,
and so on. In California, the average residential customer
uses 6,500 KWh per year.
