Solar
Energy Benefits
Gain Independence from PG&E
In recent years the highest tier residential electric
rates have increased between 30-60%. Experts believe
that electric rates will continue to climb faster
than inflation. But if you are your own energy provider
you do not have to worry about the higher tiered rates
and their inevitable rate hikes.
Solar
Power is Cheaper than PG&E Power
Adding a solar PV system is the same as prepaying
for 40 years of power at a fraction of the price you
presently pay. The price per unit of energy you pay
now is much more than you would pay if you added solar
modules; and as rates increase, the difference increases,
leading to greater savings over the lifetime of your
solar PV system.
A
Portion is Paid for by the Government
The government has done there part by implementing
programs to help make solar energy more affordable
to the consumer. The California Solar Initiative (CSI)
offers a significant rebate, usually covering 20-30%
of the total system cost. As available for eligible
residential customers is a federal tax credit of $2,000.
Spin
your Meter Backwards using Sunlight
When you generate more power then you are using your
meter will spin backwards. This will give you a credit
with PG&E at the same rate they are charging you,
which allows you to reduce you electric bill hopefully
to zero. If you over consume electricity one month
you have your built up credit to fall back on.
Solar
PV Systems are Reliable
PV systems are virtually maintenance free (especially
if batteries are not used), and will provide power
for 20 to 40 years without you even noticing. They
are quite and produce the cleanest power to date.
PV systems were first used by NASA in space for satellites.
NASA used them for their durability, reliability,
and maintenance free purpose.
Save
the Environment by going Solar
Using
sunlight to create power greatly reduces your use
of fossil fuels, which decreases pollution and greenhouse
gas emissions. A 2.5kW system decreases CO2 emissions
equal to planting one acre of trees, or equal of a
car diving 7,800 miles per year. So do your part to
help the environment by joining in on the fight to
stop global warming and reduce our dependence on foreign
resources.
